Show Cause Hearing

Forfeited 2021 Property Taxes

  • Date: January 19, 2024, 9 am.
  • Location:
    225 W Main Street
    Room 107
    Gaylord, MI 49735

Purpose

For owner/taxpayer of property to show cause why property which has forfeited for delinquent 2021 and previous year taxes to the county under section 211.78g of the General Property Tax Act (Act 206 of 1893) should not be foreclosed on April 1, 2024. This is an informal hearing with the county treasurer which provides the owner/taxpayer an opportunity to dispute validity of unpaid delinquent taxes or to request up to twelve months of additional time to pay outstanding delinquent taxes for reasons of financial hardship, incompetency or the like on homestead property. Upon request the owner/taxpayer may be required to provide financial documentation which would meet with the 2023 HHS Poverty Guidelines, Federal Register, January 19, 2023.
